HELP! SHOULD I GO SEE A VET?

We know how stressful it can be, middle of the night and your cat is vomiting, or maybe she fell and hurt her paw? You are not sure what to do and need someone to talk to. There are some incidents that warrant urgent medical care and others that don't. Why drag your cat to the vet and put added stress on her when you don't need to!? A simple 5 minute call could make all the difference!

Our furriends at Smart.Vet help you determine the urgency of your pets medical concern. Speak to a licensed veterinarian any time of day or night for only $35 CAD. Why risk a $300 expense at an emergency clinic that may not be covered by Purrplan. We often see claims that are denied because the cat was perfectly healthy when seen by the emergency veterinarian.

LOGIN & REQUEST A CALL

Visit our furriends at Smart.Vet and create an account that is unique and separate from your Purrplan account. Once you have an account, you can log in, and select a time when a veterinarian can call you. Veterinarians are available to take your call 24/7.

WAIT FOR THE VET TO CALL YOU

A veterinarian will call you from a random number at the designated time. The emergency triage call should take no longer than 5 minutes.

FOLLOW THE VETERINARY GUIDANCE

 

A veterinarian will advise you if you should visit a veterinarian right away or if there are alternative measures to take.

WHY SMART.VET?

We really do not like to deny claims but with such caring cat parents as our customers, sometimes means that cats are brought to emergency vet clinics for situations that are non-emergency or where their cat tests as perfectly healthy. Since our plans do not provide coverage for non emergency costs or, when there is no accident or diagnosed illnesses, we then have to unfortunately deny these claims. Did we say how much we don't like denying claims. At Purrplan, we want to pay as many claims as possible, so we decided to partner with Smart.Vet, an Ontario-based pet telehealth provider, to help us prevent claim denials and give you better access to medical services.

 

Smart.Vet is meant to function primarily as an after-hours/weekend service to support you, your cat, and your family veterinarian. We encourage you to contact your regular veterinarian during office hours as he/she is fully equipped to handle your cat's needs. However, if your cat is experiencing a medical concern after-hours, and you're unsure if you should take them to an emergency clinic, you can call a vet at Smart.Vet to help determine the urgency of your situation. By calling ahead of time, you may prevent a costly emergency bill for a visit which may not be covered. Veterinarians have the most complete understanding of what is required to provide the highest standard of health-care for your cat, which is why the Smart.Vet platform was built by veterinarians for pet owners and veterinarians alike. Like Purrplan, Smart.Vet is a proudly Canadian owned and operated business based in Ontario.

 

Veterinarians are available 24/7 to take your call. They will not provide a diagnosis, but will help you determine the urgency or your situation. Smart.Vet is a separate platform to ours, and as such, you will need to create an account that is unique and separate from your Purrplan account. We recommend that you do this ahead of time so that, in the event of a medical concern, you can access this resource as quickly as possible.
